So I had a meeting Friday, and afterward - as I am wont to do- I decided to do a little shopping. At home, I was unwrapping everything, and removing those weird, crinkly, flimsy bags that are used to "protect" items in sturdy cardboard boxes ("Look Honey, it's my value-add!!"), when I noticed the words "This is not a toy" printed in a black, menacing font.
Wha??? You mean for the last two and a half years I've been waving these things in front of Baby K and saying in a sing-song voice, "Sweeeeeeeeetie! It's your Strangulator 2000" and it wasn't a toy??
I understand that lawyers must earn their keep by labeling self-evident items as unsuitable for children. Or, to stave off the particularly litigious among us. But come on people, enough is enough. Take responsibility for your own actions. Acknowledge that you are a thinking human being. We shouldn't have to stamp "Caution: Hot" on a cup of take-away coffee. We shouldn't have to be told that paint thinner isn't to be ingested. As my friend Jay Menard would say, "It's a culling of the stupid." And, speaking of Jay.... Look up! Look up to the next entry.
